The Conservative Buckeye

So my Brother-in-Law Bryan has been begging me to watch this show BSG for a while now. Well yesterday he let me borrow his first season set of BSG DVDs. I wasnt planning on watching much of it just the first couple of shows. I started at 2:30 P.M. on Monday and finished the whole first season plus the mini-series at 3:30 P.M. today (Tuesday). I must say that I am very impressed with the show and how well it is written. I love the suspense and the not knowing who is a cylon and who isnt. I like most of the characters but espeacially like Lt. Sharon even though she is clearly a cylon I honestly think she is a good cylon at heart and by the time this show is finished I believe she will be the help they need in defeating the cylons. I wish I could write more about the overall plot of the show at this time but I am still trying to get a grasp on a lot of stuff and dont want to ruin any of the plots at this point.

There are 2 things I dont like about the show though.

First, in the original BSG that I saw when I was a child. The little boy was more of a prominent character and he had this great robot dog named muffit that looked like a bear or a lion I think. The boy has been seen maybe 5 times in the first season and he doesnt have a dog. Give me my dog BSG writers.

Second, is the over the top and sometimes very graphic sex scenes. I understand they need a few to spice up the show. But, everyone in the show is doing it. And that blond cylon and doctor are doing it every time they are on the show. All I need to say to prove my point is 4 sex sceens in the first 24 minutes of the mini-series.

Overall I give the show a 7.5 out of 10. I hope the show gets better and they stay true to the overall storylines. I hope everyone will give this show a chance and give it a looksie. It is on Friday nights at 10 P.M. on the sci-fi channel.

P.S. Bryan dont forget you no longer can question the gilmore girls and the raunchyness and lack of overall morals of that show. It is like comparing Bambi (Gilmore Girls) to a Porno (Battlestar Galactica).

Richard Hatch, who won $1 million in the first season of Survivor, was found guilty yesterday of failing to pay taxes on his winnings.He was handcuffed and taken into custody after U.S. District Judge Ernest Torres called him a potential flight risk.

He also was convicted of evading taxes on $327,000 he earned as co-host of a Boston radio show and $28,000 in rent on property he owned. He was acquitted of seven bank, mail and wire-fraud charges.

Hatch, 44, faces up to 13 years in prison and a fine of $600,000. Sentencing is scheduled for April 28.

Jurors deliberated for less than a day after more than a week of testimony.

Besides the tax charges, prosecutors accused Hatch of using money donated to his charitable foundation, Horizon Bound, an outdoors program he planned to open for troubled youth. He allegedly spent the money on expenses including tips to a limousine driver, dry cleaning and tens of thousands of dollars on improvements to a house he owned.

Hatch testified that he thought producers were supposed to pay his Survivor taxes and said the donations he took from his charity were far less than the money he had poured into it.

Web Junk 20. It is hosted by Patrice O’neal a truly funny comedian. The show is a weekly show of the 20 funniest things on the internet. Web Junk 20 is on Friday nights at 11:30 P.M. It also is replayed several times through out the week. It is the kind of show that you will laugh out loud even when you are alone. I hope that you will all check out this show. “American Idol” has found itself in the middle of another scandal. Derrell and Terrell Brittenum belted their way through the auditions Tuesday night, earning them a one-way ticket to Hollywood. But now it seems the only thing the brothers will see is the inside of a Georgia jail.

According to police reports, the twins are being arrested for forgery, theft and identity fraud after they used another man’s identity to buy a car. Terrell is in jail today, as police hunt for his twin brother Derrell.

“I don’t know what to say,” Simon told us. “Nothing surprises me on the show…come clean, guys! “

“Idol” producers haven’t revealed whether or not the twins will return to the competition, but it’s probable that when the contestants gather in Hollywood on February 8, they will be singing the blues from behind bars.

Regardless the outcome of the Brittenum brothers, the show will go on!
